Bury Shared Lives

Welcome!

We believe everyone deserves inclusive opportunities to grow, belong and live fulfilled lives so we enable support that makes a positive impact through short stay (sometimes called respite) or shared living (long term placements). We aren't recruiting carers to day support at the moment.

We match people with similar interests and beliefs to spend their time together; our carers and the people we support work together to choose their match and are free to try a different match if it doesn't work.

What does Bury Shared Lives do?

We:

- create matches to support people across Bury to grow their skills and get involved in things that matter to them, whether that's shopping, volunteering, days out, a trip to the gym or getting a job

- recruit, train and place carers in flexible, rewarding, self employed roles

- support both our carers and the people we support to get the best they can out of their Shared Lives experience

The people we support are at the heart of what we do and how we do it.

We have an enthusiastic committee who meet quarterly and are active members of our Your Voice Committee. They are also our reader panel for all the easy reads produced by Persona and they produce their own six monthly newsletter for everyone who is a part of Bury Shared Lives - read more about the committee here. 

What is Bury Shared Lives?

We're ordinary people doing the extraordinary - sharing our lives to create a stronger, kinder community and giving people in Bury opportunites to grow, belong and live fulfilled lives with our support.

Anyone can be a Shared Lives carer, you don't need any experience and you'll get all the training and support you need from our friendly team.
