Employment Pathways
We are here to support people with a learning disability to find employment or volunteering opportunities and to support them in that role when they get one.
We know people we support want to work and/or volunteer but don't know how to get started and we understand the importance of working and volunteering in boosting people's self esteem and making them feel valued.
This is why we've created this new service to help people explore their options and achieve their aspirations.
Who is Employment Pathways for?
People we support in our Learning Disability Day Services who want to start work experience, volunteering or take the first step in their career.
What do we want to achieve with this new service?
- To raise awareness of the importance of working and/or volunteering.
- To build on the confidence and independence of people we support.
- To enable people we support to find roles they can succeed in.
How will we acheive this?
We plan to be there every step of the way.
We'll work with people who want to start their journey by:
- asking them about their skills and interests
- looking at the support they may need during employment
- finding the right role for them
- boosting their confidence and skills
- providing 1:1 support from specialist job coaches
We'll also work with employers by:
- helping them understand what people with a learning disability need to thrive in work
- coaching them to offer the right support and guidance
